Community Use

Community Use of schools is part of a Fife-wide strategy to promote Community Learning and Development opportunities to every citizen in the area we serve. The concept of Community Use Schools in the 'Kingdom' is not new but the introduction of PPP schools, such as Queen Anne, allows us to take our already successful strategies to new heights within these modern facilities. The development of new and existing multi-agency partnerships will allow us to address a wide range of public service policies:

  • Healthy Fifer
Through the many leisure opportunities available at our facilities we are striving to tackle ongoing issues such as obesity, asthma and sedentary lifestyles amongst primary school children.
  • Active Fifer
We are aiming to encourage 'active citizenship' through our work with youth groups, voluntary organisations and other local community groups.
  • Artistic Fifer
Individuals and groups are privy to an extensive programme of art, music and cultural activities within our well-equipped schools to support ongoing local events and encourage new projects.
  • Skilful Fifer
Many of the courses we offer allow our customers to gain qualifications that are recognised by Industry and Commerce allowing them to retrain and multi-skill as required by today's job market.
  • Caring Fifer
As well as offering courses for carers, i.e. Sign Language, through our equal opportunity policy we allow the disabled community and other disadvantaged groups to be fully integrated into our programme of activities.

Queen Anne High School Community Use has a major contribution to make to the new challenges of social inclusion, lifelong learning and active citizenship. The excellent new facilities will help us to position ourselves at the heart of our Community to address these complex issues.
