Homework Policy

Dept policy is to issue homework on a regular basis with most related specifically to ongoing Unit work. Sketchbooks for written and practical pieces are issued to S1 and S2 for this purpose and other years use a variety of papers depending on media requirements.

Most written work is begun in class and completed at home. All work is marked and feedback given. Pupils are asked and expected to carry out ALL homework to the same standard as their classwork and to hand in assignments on time.

Although not issued on a weekly basis for S1 and S2, over the 40 week Session pupils will receive between 15 - 20 homework pieces of varied timescales, S3 and S4 between 20 and 25 and S5 and S6 between 25 and 30.

Sampling of the quality of homework is undertaken by all of the Dept and visits to classes to remind pupils of the importance of taking homework tasks seriously are undertaken by the PT termly or as required.

Examples of tasks issued are:

  • Researching information about named Artists and Designers.
  • Writing about Artists and Designers and making informed judgements based on facts.
  • Continuing work already begun in class (in particular if pupil has been absent).
  • Observed drawing from personal resources.
