A one or two year course for beginners leading to Higher Greek. The content and final examination is as follows.

- Paper II
- Greek History : Thucydides: When Sparta lays siege to Athens, and a fearful plague breaks out, citizens begin to question the value of the Athenian democratic way of life. Is Sparta's totalitarian oligarchy not superior?
- Paper III
- Translation into English of Greek Philosophy. Readings from the work of the philosopher, Plato, generally held to be the greatest prose writer of all time.
