Japanese

With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Japan is now the No. 2 economy in the world after that of America. This has made Japanese the second most important language in the world after English, both economically and scientifically.

Although extremely difficult to read and write, Japanese is relatively easy to speak. Anybody, for example, who had done Latin would find Japanese grammar rather easy. You would just have to remember the vocabulary.

The good news is that you don't need to learn the writing system to speak Japanese. Many people working in Japan or with Japanese here in Britain don't understand Japanese writing, but speak it fluently.

Because so few foreign people speak Japanese, students who have a knowledge of Japanese find it very easy to get jobs.

Among the possible subject combinations are:

  • Japanese & either Business or Economics
  • Japanese & Law
  • Japanese & Computer Studies

and many others.

Queen Anne High School is the only school in Scotland that offers a one year course in Japanese. You will be one of the first.

Don't throw away the opportunity ! !
