Departmental Aims
Within the school framework the Biology department aims:
- To make pupils aware of the vital contribution Biology makes to people's everyday lives, health and the well-being of the environment both locally and world-wide
- To encourage respect for the welfare of animal and plant life and the environment
- To ensure that all pupil's learning experiences have quality, and value
- To make Biology interesting, varied and relevant to pupils of all abilities by encouraging their active involvement in the learning process
- To respond to the needs of pupils with specific problems quickly, tactfully and appropriately
- To create a learning environment in which pupils develop to their full potential
- To encourage individual study, personal initiative and responsibility
- To encourage positive social interaction
- To ensure that pupils perform to their full potential in national examinations
- To use strategies for effective teaching and learning
