Class Organisation

Pupils are set according to ability. Credit/General classes tend to be large. General/Foundation classes tend to be smaller and LSS assistance is requested for these classes. Pupils are time-tabled for 3 periods of history in S3 and S4.

Areas of Study

There are 3 units of study:

Unit 1 (c)

Methodology

The department attempts to use a variety of learning experiences including elements of:

  • oral discussion
  • work-guides
  • group-work
  • audio-visual aids

  • field-work - where possible

Methodology is mixed between the methodologies advocated by the SQA and the traditional nature (especially at Credit Level) of the final examination.
