Homework Policy

The courses that are delivered by the department all contain an element of homework.

The type of homework that is given by the class teacher can consist of set materials as issued by the PT for use in the department. Additional homework as determined by the teacher in the form of written work, preparation for classwork, revision for exams.

Copies of the homework sheets are contained in the course outlines.

The homework issued in S1 is used as part of the overall assessment for the course as outlined in the course details for staff. For the other courses, staff should record the marks attained for each pupil in their homework and use this to assist them in the reporting that they do.

S1 Homework

The course will have homework issued as indicated below, with Computing staff marking this. To eliminate the problem of issuing homework in the last week of a block which would have been collected in by Social Subjects staff, passed to Computing staff to mark then returned to Social Subjects teachers for pupils you will see that homework is only issued for the first three weeks of each block, giving a total of nine homeworks. Marked homework will be returned to pupils with an answer sheet so that any answers missed or that are incorrect can be checked by the pupil.

Below is the outline of each of the blocks for the benefit of Social Subjects and Computing staff to see what work will be covered by pupils in the each of the four week blocks of work.

S3/4 Homework

In S3/4 there are currently 29 set homeworks covering the content of the course that should be issued to pupils as and when appropriate to pupils as the work of the course progresses. Each section of the work has homework that is differentiated and presented in a similar style to that of the final exam. This should help prepare pupils for their exam and make the format of the materials familiar to them.
