Promoting Positive Discipline
A high standard of behaviour is expected of all Queen Anne High School pupils. Our discipline policy has three main threads: The Classroom Code, Classroom Code Consequences and Rewards.
The Classroom Code requires that pupils:
- Treat others, their work and their property with respect
- Arrive on time for each class with the appropriate books and equipment
- Enter classes quietly, sit down and wait for instructions from the teacher
- Listen to and follow instructions the first time given
- Raise a hand and wait to be asked before speaking
- Not to eat, drink or chew in class
- Pack up and leave quietly when told to by the teacher.
The Classroom Code Consequences are enforced after a pupil has been given fair warning if their behaviour fails to meet our expectations:
- Isolated in the class
- Given a punishment exercise from the class teacher
- Removed from the class
- Referred to the Principal Teacher who will apply strict departmental sanctions
- Referred to an appropriate member of the Senior Management Team
The Rewards include:
- Verbal praise from the class teacher
- Written comments of a favourable nature in jotter/homework planner
- Verbal praise from the Principal Teacher
- Positive referral from the classroom teacher
- Certificate of achievement
- Certificate of distinction
- A reference when the pupil leaves school, which reflects the quality of effort and achievement.
In short, we believe and emphasise that it is better to behave.
