Parent Council Initiatives
At the Parent Council meeting on January 17th we were grateful to have two guest speakers from Queen Margaret University Department of Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences. Michael Clapham, Lecturer, gave an excellent overview of the extent of the issues relating to the general dietary intake of our pupils (presentation available for download). This was followed by a presentation by Carina Norris highlighting some of her important and ongoing research in Fife schools, including QAHS. From this research we can begin to understand the range of choices our children make at lunchtimes and what are some of the factors that influence their decisions. All members of the parent forum were invited and further discussions and research will take place. We would like to thank Michael and Carina for their excellent and thought provoking work and we welcome any comments or requests to be involved in future discussions. All research presented is already within the public domain but this data is made available on the consent of the authors and is for personal use only.
