The Pupil Support Faculty

The Pupil Support Faculty has four integrated areas - behaviour support, guidance, learning support and the sensory impairment service. Through the Support for Learning Group the school is moving towards a fully integrated Pupil Support Faculty.

Before your child arrives in Queen Anne High School he/she will meet with a Pupil Support Teacher in Primary 7. Regular contact with the primary schools is maintained to ensure that there is a continuity and progression in your child's education.

All first year classes will be allocated a Pupil Support Teacher who will be responsible for supporting the learning of every pupil in that class. This responsibility continues throughout the time your child attends Queen Anne High School. Pupil Support provision is managed to meet the individual needs of the pupils and this is delivered through in-class support, consultation with class teachers, individual and small group tuition.

The Pupil Support Faculty makes good use of technological developments to facilitate learning opportunities.

Teachers in the Pupil Support Faculty are supported by an able team of teaching auxiliaries, the Home School Link Officer, the School Support Worker and the Pupil Support Manager.

The Faculty also supports the learning of individual pupils through the peer support scheme.

Staff from the Pupil Support Faculty also work closely with pupils who are finding it difficult to cope with aspects of school life due to social, emotional and/or behaviour issues. The staff in Pupil Support work closely with class teachers to promote positive behaviour, encourage good attendance and develop good relationships.
