Queen Anne High School Crest Queen Anne High School Crest

Parent Teachers Association

What does the PTA do? I hear you ask….Well, below is a brief outline of our activities …

We have hopefully started some PTA traditions with our events and we gladly welcome all the new faces who have come along to various meetings and helped out. As ever, we have been lucky to benefit from the support of the students at Queen Anne as many of our events would not have been possible without them. Mr Meek, Mr Watt and Mr Bellshaw also get our thanks for giving their support over the past year.

Queen Anne High School continues to evolve and with the introduction of Parent Councils, in place of the School Board, it should be a very interesting year and a learning curve for all involved. The PTA has decided that for the meantime we will remain separate from the Parent Council but will work alongside supporting it in its infancy. 3 members of the current PTA committee have volunteered to join the Parent Council.

We started the year of with our annual Autumn Bulb Campaign which proved to be popular and helped us launch our main fundraising this year for a memorial within school. The Spring Bulb Campaign will be with you again at the start of the new term in January and details will be sent to you by postbag towards the middle of December.

Our other annual venture is to produce our 2008 Calendar which includes student’s artwork and school holiday dates, parents evening, reports issued etc. This has proved very popular in the past and we hope you will support this cause again.

Our Burns Supper will, once again, be held in the school Dining Hall on Friday 18th January 2008. The transformation made to the Dining Hall last year was spectacular. Our thanks, in advance, for organising all the musical items on the night goes to Mrs Crook. Tickets for this event will go on sale in December.

The PTA continues to contribute to various departments with a vast variety of equipment that would not normally be available to them through the school budget.

You will always find the PTA in the corner of the dining hall at all Parents evenings and other such events including Christmas and Summer Concerts serving our usual array of refreshments.

The PTA provides a prize at Prizegiving for ‘The person who has contributed the most to the school community’. Mr Colin Fraser was the well deserved recipient for this year and he received a plate which was sculpted and very kindly donated by Camilla Garnett-Jones, from Culross.

Below is a list of PTA committee members and the dates of our meetings for the remainder of the 2007/2008 session. If you would like to come along to any or all of the meetings please feel free to do. We meet at 7pm in the Conference Room.
